PUBLIC NOTICE
Get Locked Up for Muscular Dystrophy Wednesday
Business people of Santa Monica have a chance to “arrested” during the Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) Annual Lock-Up on Wednesday. Prior to the event, the jailbirds will contact friends, family and co-workers to raise money in order to “post their bail.”

Those arrested will be taken to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. where they will present their pre-raised bail of $1,000. Each bail amount will sponsor a single child for an entire year. The money covers the cost of support groups, whether they be for the child or their family, clinic visits and MDA’s annual summer camp.

All jailbirds will be provided a free meal. Prizes will be awarded to jailbirds who meet their bail.

Other volunteers are needed to act as arresting officers, who will “arrest” jailbirds and transport them to the restaurant, greeters, as well as judges, who will recognize jailbirds as they post their bail. Volunteers will be needed from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

MDA -- which funds research and maintains about 230 clinics nationwide -- hopes to raise $30,000 at thise year's event in Santa Monica. At last year’s Lock-Up, the association raised $16,126.
