By Lookout Staff

March 16, 2026 -- "Locals' Night" at the Santa Monica Pier Thursday celebrates L.A.’s hip-hop culture and the legendary highway that ended a few blocks away.

Presented by Pacific Park, the free event -- which takes place from 3:30 to 10 p.m. -- features live music, art and a look at the legacy of "Route 66,” which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

“This ‘Locals’ Night’ reflects the creativity, diversity, and cultural pulse that defines Los Angeles,” said Jim Harris, executive director and historian of the Pier.

“From hip-hop pioneers to live muralists and classic car culture, this event celebrates the artists and communities that continue to shape our city’s sound and style,” Harris said.

The tribute to LA's independent hip-hop scene features a curated lineup by Top to Bottom LA on the Main Stage that includes performances by Matre & LA Jae, English League, Shapeshifters, The Mighty Giants, BeOND and Acid Reign.

Don Guapo Classic Cars showcases vintage vehicles and custom car culture, as well as classic car flyer design art, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mariachi Alta performs a vibrant set from 5 to 6 p.m. that blends cultural traditions, while live art installations and creative pop-ups will crop up throughout the Pier.

From 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Patio 66 at Pacific Park, Salsa Way features free salsa lessons and an open dance floor over the ocean. Select beer and wine will be available, along with a margarita special.

Locals' Night also shines a light on Route 66, "the legendary highway that leads directly to the Santa Monica Pier with the moniker, 'The end of the road is just the beginning,'” event organizers said

“Locals’ Night” -- which takes place every third Thursday from September through May -- "is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for residents to rediscover the magic of the Pier while connecting with their community," Pier officials said.

"Whether dancing to live music, watching movies, shopping local artisans, or enjoying the stunning ocean views, this event is designed to bring Santa Monicans and all Angelenos together in a fun and festive outdoor setting."
