Woman Killed in Assisted Living Facility

By Lookout Staff

July 27, 2026 – Santa Monica Police arrested a suspect Saturday night in the killing of a woman inside an assisted care housing facility for homeless residents in the Pico Neighborhood.

Officers arrive at the scene after responding to a call at 5:21 p.m. “regarding a woman in need of medical assistance inside an apartment in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard,” police officials said.

“Officers arrived and located an adult female with significant injuries,” said Lt. Lewis Gilmour, the Police Department spokesman.

“Santa Monica Fire Department personnel responded and attempted life-saving measures,” Gilmour said. “The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

An update posted by SMPD at 8:45 p.m. on social media said officers had “taken a suspect into custody in connection with the homicide investigation.”

SMPD detectives and forensic personnel are investigating the incident as a homicide, officials said.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Homicide took place in the Manor.

While the Police Department did not give an address , the facility was cordoned off with yellow tape on Saturday evening.

The Manor, which is State licensed, provides limited services, including distributing medications, and houses some residents who have lived in the "supportive environment" for decades, according to City officials.

The Manor's three-story property at 1905 Pico Boulevard has 155 beds, while its property at 1921 Pico Boulevard has 16 units.

There are no additional suspects being sought at this time. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
