January 12, 2016 -- Silver screen actress Marion Davies loved the throw lavish parties at her Santa Monica beach house that drew some of he 20th century's biggest names -- from Charlie Chaplin to Winston Churchill.

The parties have long ended, but guests will flock on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to what's left of the old mansion to celebrate her birthday at the Annenberg Community Beach House.

Docents for the Santa Monica Conservancy, which throws the party every year, will come dressed in costume as Joan Crawford and gossip columnist Hedda Hopper and the love of Davies' life, publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst, who built the 101-room estate for her on Pacific Coast Highway.

And if past years are any indication, guests, who might also include Louis B. Mayer, Samuel Goldwyn, Greta Garbo and Clark Gable, will number in the hundreds.

The party may not be as lavish as the ones Davies' hosted, and there won't be booze flowing, but the the Conservancy hopes to recreate the bubbly atmosphere the actress was known to exude.

Guests can sip non-alchoholic drinks, "cut a rug" to live music by LA Love Band featuring Danny Meyer and enjoy tricks performed by magician Tom Frank, Conservancy officials said.

Davies' biographer Lara Fowler will show home movies from Davies and Hearst's European vacations, while film producer and historian Elaina Archer will introduces Davies' 1928 film "Show People" directed by King Vidor.

The event is free, and guests are welcome to come in their favorite Gold Coast Era attire. Reservations are recommended and can be made online or by calling 310-458-4904. All ages are welcome.

The Annenberg Community Beach House is located at 415 Pacific Coast Hwy. Parking is available for $3 per hour or $8 per day. The parking machine accepts cash and credit card. Ample bike parking is available.

The Annenberg Community Beach House is wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. For disability related accommodations, please call Guest Services at 310-458-4904.
