December 7, 2015 -- Performing and visual arts students in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will be busy this holiday, spreading cheer at several free and low-cost performances, District officials announced.

“This is a special time of year for our visual and performing arts students to showcase their talents while celebrating the holiday season,” said SMMUSD Superintendent Sandra Lyon. “We invite the community to join us in celebrating the season and our talented students.”

On Tuesday, December 8, the Santa Monica High School Orchestra will get the holiday spirit going with its Winter Concert in Barnham Hall at Samohi, 601 Pico Boulevard, at 7 p.m.

Tickets at the door are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.

Catch Samohi's talented student choir as it performs Wednesday, December 9, at Barnes and Nobel's Book Fair at 1201 3rd Street, Santa Monica.

Holiday fun continues Thursday, December 9, when the Lincoln Middle School band performs in the auditorium, 1501 California Avenue., at 7 p.m. A ticket donation of $3 is suggeted. Space may be limited, however, due to the size of the venue.

Also on Thursday, the Samohi Madrigal Singers and Chamber Ensemble will sing holiday carols at the Water Garden, 1620 26th Street, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free.

The Lincoln Middle School Choir will perform a holiday concert featuring chorus, chorale, concert choir, chamber choir and magrigals on Tuesday, December 15 in the school's auditorium.

Not to be outdone, the John Adams Middle School Orchestra performs its holiday concert on Tuesday, December 15, in Barnum Hall at Samohi, at 7 p.m. For more information, call Angele Woo at 310-452-2326, Ext. 72-226.

Also on Thursday, the Santa Monica Alternative School House, SMASH, presents a concert by students in the school's band, choir and orchestra, in the school's cafeteria, 2525 5th Street. Performances are at 12:30 and 3 p.m. Admission is free.
