By Daniel Larios March 7, 2014 -- Getting a passport will become much easier Monday, after the City Clerk's Office announced this week that it has been designated a United States Passport Acceptance Facility. Services will include acquiring first-time passport or passport cards, passport photos and expedited processing, “all at the convenient City Hall location,” said officials. Passport services will be available Monday to Thursday and alternating Fridays from 9 a.m to 2:30 p.m. Appointments are required. The City Clerks Office reminds those who are applying for a passport to bring original evidence of U.S. Citizenship, original identification and payment for fees. For more information on acceptable forms of identification visit http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english.html. According to city officials, “appointments should take approximately 30 to 40 minutes and you will receive your passport within 4 to 6 weeks.” Expedited services are also available for an extra fee. The City Clerk’s office is centrally located at City Hall, 1685 Main Street, Room 102. Parking is available at the Civic Center structure and lot. For more information and to make an appointment call (310) 458-8211 or visit www.smgov.net/passports. |
