| SMMUSD Hires New Administrators | |

By Lookout Staff June 21, 2010 --The Board of Education on Friday approved appointments to fill two house principal positions at Santa Monica High School and the assistant principal opening at John Adams Middle School. Clara Herran was named principal for Samohi’s O House. She has been working as the assistant principal of Susan Miller Dorsey High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District for the past four years. Prior to that, she was an instructional specialist, Title I coordinator and social science teacher. A press release from the SMMUSD states, “Ms. Herran is well-versed in implementing best practices to close the achievement gap, using technology as an instructional and learning tool and employing differentiated instructional strategies.” Renée Semik was named principal for Samohi’s I House. She has been a social studies teacher at Samohi for the past five years. Prior to that, she taught in several areas throughout the country including the Northern Mariana Islands, Ohio and Tennessee. “Ms. Semik is well-versed in implementing best practices to close the achievement gap,” the District press release states. “ Chris Regan was named assistant principal at John Adams. He was the assistant principal at Agoura High School in the Las Virgenes Unified School District. Prior to that, he served in other administrative positions and as a Spanish teacher. “He is well-versed in implementing best practices to close the achievement gap, having coached teachers and support staff regarding the incorporation of differentiated instructional strategies and technology,” the press release states. |
