Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials searched for him during the weekend with a volunteer crew. The search was eventually called off, and the investigation has been turned over to the SMPD.

An article in the Santa Clarita Valley Signal states that Carter’s wife told Sheriff’s deputies that her husband is “is in good physical and mental shape and hikes often, but he never camps out overnight.”

Carter is described as a white male weighing 140 pounds and standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He has gray hair, brown eyes and a “slight build.” Those with information should contact the SMPD at 310-458-8495.
