Police Looking for Arson Suspect

February 23, 2010 -- A suspected arsonist is loose in the city and police would like the public's help catching him.

The suspect has set fire to parked vehicles, shrubbery, and trash bins in the residential area north of the Third Street Promenade, police said. The six incidents took place within a two-block radius between February 12 and February 22.

The Santa Monica Police Department is currently investigating the cases as related to one another, said Sgt. Jay Trisler, the police Department spokesman. There are no suspects at this time.

The arsons have occurred on the following dates, locations and times of day:

Those who have any information regarding the person(s) involved in these crimes or any other arson/suspicious fires should call Detective Heric at 310.458.8410, Sgt Trisler at 310.458.8471, or the Santa Monica Police Department (24 hours) at 310.458.8495.
