July 24, 2009 -- The pilot of a private helicopter made an emergency landing on Santa Monica Beach Thursday night after experiencing mechanical problems, Santa Monica Police said.
The helicopter landed on the sand near the Santa Monica-Venice border, said Lt. Steve Heineman.
There were three people on board the helicopter when it landed shortly before 8 p.m.
No one on the aircraft or on the ground was hurt, police said. There was no significant damage to the helicopter.
