Woman Found Dead After Apparent Assault |

March 18 -- A 21-year old woman was found dead in her
Santa Monica apartment Sunday, the apparent victim of assault, police
said.
The victim was identified as Juliana Maureen Redding, said Lt.
Alex Padilla, the Police Department spokesman.
Police are treating the incident as a homicide, and the Los Angeles
County Coroners Office is expected to conduct an autopsy Tuesday
to determine the cause of death.
Redding’s body was found by police in her apartment on the 1500 block
of Centinela Avenue at 6:10 p.m., Padilla said.
“It appears the victim died as a result of an assault,” Padilla
said. “It is unknown how long the victim had been dead prior to being
discovered.”
Police went to Redding’s residence after receiving a call from her mother,
who had been unsuccessfully trying to contact her daughter by phone, Padilla
said.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages, and police are hoping witnesses
will step forward with more information, Padilla said.
“We’re hoping that somebody saw or heard something that might give
us an idea of what occured,” he said.
Padilla declined to comment on whether a weapon was involved or
if there was evidence the assailant entered by force.
According to neighbors, Redding recently moved to the Los Angeles
area from Arizona to become a model and actress.
