December 16 -- A Santa Monica resident died Sunday night
when his car swerved off a road in Agua Dulce, an unincorporated
community just north of Santa Clarita, according to the California
Highway Patrol.
The victim was identified by CHP officers as Wallace Kachadoorian.
Kachadoorian, 62, was driving his 1993 Subaru sedan on Darling
Road just west of Agua Dulce Canyon when he lost control and hit
a mailbox, according to CHP Officer John Lutz.
It has not been determined why the car swerved, but authorities
suspect a medical condition may have taken place just before the
accident.
Kachadoorian did not have any visible injuries from the accident,
Lutz told KHTS-AM radio.
Agua Dulce is the home of Vasquez Rocks California State Park,
a popular backdrop for Hollywood films, including The Flintstones
movie and the Star Trek episode "Arena."
Named for famous bandit Tiburcio Vasquez, the town of 4,000 is
also home of the Agua Dulce Vineyards, the largest winery in Los
Angeles County.
