In
what turned out to be the most dance-inducing show at the Twilight
Dance Series of concerts on the Santa Monica Pier, Thursday night's
appearance by the triple threat of Ricardo Lemvo & Makina
Loca, Blay Ambolley & his Hi-Life Afrikan Jazz Orchestra
and headliners Caribbean Pulse more than made up for the cancelled
show by Mali's superstar performer Salif Keita, originally scheduled
for that night.

The result
was masterful musical mix of Afro-Cuban-Carib songs styles such
rhumba, son, soukous, salsa, high-life, simigwa-do and the reliable
roots, rock and reggae -- complete with dancing girls -- that kept
the majority of the crowd in perpetual motion.
