Feeling
Threatened, Skate more Mike and "We are With You"
October 22, 2003
Dear Editor,
Thank you for the excellent article by Mark McGuigan, "The
Weight of Pushing Tin," (Oct., 13, 2003)
If only the community, especially surrounding the airport, would
stand up en masse and stop the FAA from encroaching like this!
We hear more and more about their bullish behavior, read
infuriating reports about their plans for increasing the size
and activity of the jets, and our only course of action is to
take ultimately ineffectual due process.
As a member of the Airport Committee of the Friends of Sunset
Park, I know how hard people like Cathy Larson have worked to
prevent the current situation from getting to this point, let
alone getting worse.
We need more people to come forth and take a stand against the
FAA. I never thought I would feel so threatened living in my
home (we are very near the runway) but I most definitely do now.

Dear Editor,
(Re: "OPINION: Feinstein's Reasons for Running for Air
Quality Governance Board," Oct. 22, 2003)
Despite Mike's long presence on City Council, Santa Monica has
become less and less pedestrian and bicycle friendly. He has
been singularly unresponsive in addressing these issues and is,
in my estimation, a bad choice for the office which he now seeks.
I believe Mike to be a well intentioned but poor representative
of his Green constituency deserving of no higher office. Get
out of your Prius and back on your skateboard, Mike, and maybe
you'll get a clue.

Dear Editor,
(Re: "Local Strikers Brace for Prolonged Battle," Oct.
21, 2003) We are with you! We know how hard you work and appreciate you.
Steve Burd should be ashamed but he is not because he is so
far removed. Just like the Queen who said "Let them eat
cake," he has no understanding. He has no appreciation for
what you (we) have done for the company.
We have made the company what it is through our blood, sweat
and tears. Solidarity all the way!
Keep up the good fight and know our prayers are with you.
