Kudos and a Different
Take
November 15, 2003
Dear Editor,
Kudos to Mark McGuigan and The Lookout for your splendid efforts
to connect Santa Monica today with our yesterdays, as reflected
in your illuminating and engaging piece about the development
of what we later called the Old Santa Monica Mall. ("Pedestrian’s
Paradise," Nov. 7, 2003)
This piece offered all of us insight into the visions of earlier
Santa Monicans who instinctively knew that real downtowns are
far better than shopping centers.

Dear Editor,
I recently found the article on Diana and Daniel Attias ("Grief
Enough to Go Around," April 26, 2002). I was a friend
of David's at UCSB. Although, I am devastated by what happened
that
night, I really appreciate the philanthropic info on his folks.
I saw a Dateline on the incident title "The Son of Sin," primarily
discussing the possibility of the Attias's responsibility. The
media thrives off these ideas and I just want to say that I appreciate
a different side to the situation. God bless!
Regards,
Britni Saavedra
