"God Bless Dr. Holbrook" and Stating the Obvious July 23, 2002 Dear Editor: God bless Dr. Holbrook for choosing to continue to serve the city, even though it must be very exasperating to sit on that council ("Holbrook to Seek Fourth Term, July 22) I wasn't the woman he referred to, who was waiting for him before a council meeting because he was the only council member who would listen to her, but I and most people I know are in the same position. It must be very frustrating for Dr. Holbrook to sit on a council where everyone but him has an agenda other than serving the people of Santa Monica. Even Herb Katz, who we thought would represent us moderates, is a loss. Face it, he's a developer in this town, and he has to ingratiate himself to the council majority in order to promote his business. Jennifer Epstein July 22, 2002 Dear Editor, (Re: "Time to Beam Over the New Pubic Safety Building," July 20, 2002) "It started out hazy," said Councilman Richard Bloom. "But I see the sun is starting to break out and shine life into the building. I think it is an omen for the city." Uhhhh Richard-it's no omen. It's like that every day. Bob Barnett |
