City Renews Popular Sustainable Landscape Grant Transforming the bulk of Santa Monica’s traditional landscaping
to those types suitable to our California coastal region is one of the
most important efforts for local government. What’s more, sustainable landscapes are beautiful, they save money, and time – an obvious win-win for all parties involved. However, sometimes we need a little nudge in order to get going. Thus, the Sustainable Landscape Grant Program is being re-introduced for the remainder of 2008 and all of 2009 as funds allow. Grant applications are available online or at City Hall. To sweeten the deal, Santa Monica is offering a free, three hour orientation workshop to assist property owners in getting started. Discussion topics include: § Grant application process. § Scope of the grant. § Preparing and submitting landscape and irrigation plans. § Choosing proper irrigation equipment. § Selecting climate appropriate plant material. § What to consider when hiring a landscape professional. The workshop will take place Saturday, November 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Online Registration: http://commed.smc.edu. |
