Survey Seeks Input on Parks and Arts Needs

By Lookout Staff

May 14, 2025 -- Santa Monica residents have until May 31 to weigh in on the City's arts, parks and recreation offerings in a survey to help officials set priorities.

The results of the survey will be "used to inform a needs assessment" that will be presented to the Recreation and Parks Commission next month, City officials said.

"The survey invites the community to share information on their use of facilities, how satisfied they are with various offerings and how well the city is meeting their needs," said Tati Simonian, the City's public information officer.

The priorities will be determined based on an existing inventory of acreage, facilities, and programs and is not related to any other projects currently underway in the city.

"These items contribute significantly to our quality of life in Santa Monica, and your opinions are very important to us," City officials said.

"The time you invest in completing this survey will aid the City in taking a resident-driven approach to recreation planning to enhance our community and improve the quality of life for all residents."

The responses to the survey -- which takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete -- will remain confidential and will be reported in group form only, officials said.

Residents who fully complete the survey have a chance to win a $500 prepaid Visa gift card.

“Santa Monica prides itself on its rich and diverse art scene, beautiful parks, and a wide array of free and affordable community programs,” said Jenny Rogers, director of the Recreation and Arts Department.

“We know these factors contribute significantly to our quality of life in Santa Monica, and we welcome and value the community’s feedback.”
