May 13, 2014 -- It’s election season in the City of Santa Monica and while voters won’t be heading to the polls until Nov. 4, CityTV and the City Clerk’s Office have launched a new service to help Santa Monicans stay informed on the issues.

SMVote.org is a centralized source for Santa Monica election information, both past and present, according to officials.

“On this website, you will find information on ballot measures, disclosure statements, an election calendar, resources and much more,” City Clerk Sarah Gorman said.

The website also includes an electoral history of the City Council, the status of petitions for initiatives and referendums, deadlines for candidates, financial disclosure forms and links to the County Registrar office website, where residents can register to vote and view their registration status

As Election Day draws nearer, SMVote.org will update the page to include videos, additional links and information to ensure that voters have a balanced and unbiased source of information, officials said.

Every video found on SMVote.org will play at scheduled times on CityTV, cable channel 16 in Santa Monica and 24/7 on cable channel 77.

“Please visit smvote.org, keep visiting as new information comes in,” said Gorman. “and don't forget to vote on November 4th, Election Day.”
