By Lookout Staff
January 30, 2013 -- Santa Monica Police have identified the man killed in an accident on Pico Boulevard yesterday as 22-year-old Alexander Smollins from Culver City.
Smollins was traveling east on Pico Boulevard Monday afternoon when his motorcycle collided a silver Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota, a 26-year-old man from Inglewood, was making a left from 25th Street onto Pico Boulevard.
“The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle... was stopped northbound on 25th Street at Pico Blvd for the posted stop sign,” officials said.
“As the driver made a left turn onto westbound Pico,” officials said, “the two collided.”
Smollins, who authorities say was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the vehicle was interviewed at the location and released,” SMPD officials said, though the investigation is continuing.
