Santa Monica's Pacific Park to Celebrate Love
By Lookout Staff
February 7, 2013 -- The first 500 couples to ride Santa Monica's famous Ferris wheel this Valentine's Day will get a LED rose and chocolate kisses, compliments of Pacific Park, to help set the mood for a romantic night out.
“The Pacific Wheel has become one of L.A.'s iconic romantic spots,” said Jeff Klocke, vice president of Marketing and Administration at Pacific Park.
“It's a great night for a romantic Ferris wheel ride on one of the most romantic nights at one of L.A.'s most romantic locations,” he said.
Park officials said, “Westways magazine and AOL Digital Los Angeles cited Pacific Park’s Ferris wheel as one of Los Angeles’ most romantic spots.
“And Valentine’s Day couples will agree as they soar to heights of 130 feet above the beautiful Pacific Ocean while enjoying views of Catalina Island, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Malibu and Santa Monica Bay,” they said.
Santa Monica's nine-story Ferris wheel will also be displaying something for Valentine's Day. Its 160,000 LED lights will shine red and white to celebrate the lovers' holiday.
“We really wanted to have something fun but that was significant,” said Cameron Andrews, a spokesperson for Pacific Park, adding that's why they decided to give couples an LED rose.
“The rose will light up as they go on the ride,” he said, creating a synergy between each individual rose and the 160,000 lights on the Ferris wheel.
The Valentine's Day package will go to the first 500 couples who ride the Ferris wheel between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m.
