Santa Monica Red Cross Gets New CEO

November 13, 2012 -- Last week, Santa Monica Red Cross officials annouced that Julie Thomas would take over as Chief Executive Officer for the organization.

Thomas, who will oversee the fundraising efforts and operations at the Santa Monica Red Cross, left her position as the executive director for the Inland Empire Division of the American Heart Association in Riverside.

S`e had been with tie American Heart Association since 2006, butbegan her career in 1978 whun!she joined the Multiple Sclerosis Society according to`ofdicials.

She eventually "ecame CEO oF the Northern California Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Oakland, California, “where she managed and supervised all chapter activities including development, financial management and client services,” officials said.

“She knows how to work with volunteers,” said Bauer. “And she's nice, easy-going and friendly.”

Thomas was hired to replace Wendy Jacobs who left her position at the Santa Monica Red Cross to become director of development at the Painted Turtle in Downtown Santa Monica.

The Painted Turtle is an organization that focuses on giving children with serious medical conditions an opportunity to have a camp experience.
