February 10, 2012 -- Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and if you are looking to show some love this weekend, there’s plenty of opportunity to do it in style and at a price to ease your budget. Santa Monica’s various Downtown businesses are looking to celebrate, too.

Prices for local Valentine’s specials range from the single digit – a $9 dessert menu at The Misfit Restaurant + Bar – to something more luxurious: a $230.00-a-night room package at The Georgian Hotel during the entire month of February. The package includes chocolate covered strawberries, a “Love Potion” cocktail kit and lots of romantic sunset mojo.

Glide blissfully into the day of love with a special partners’ yoga session at Naam Yoga with Kyra Anastasia on February 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with chocolates to follow the final Savasana. Singles and lovers welcome.

To prepare for the evening, Tikkun Holistic Spa recommends a lavender body scrub and warm oil massage, or a “For My Honey” couples’ massage -- chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne included.

Most of the Downtown restaurants pump up the cozy with special menus and discounts, including the Border Grill with a four-course, prix fixe menu; Locanda del Lago with special tasting menus and wine pairings; Ozumowith a couple’s dinner and a bottle of lovers’ sparkling sake.

There's a four-course dinner for two with champagne overlooking Santa Monica Bay at the Penthouse Restaurant at the Huntley Hotel and a specially priced prix fixe menu at Zengo.

Magicopolis’ special Valentine’s Day show, “Escape Reality,” comes with pizza, champagne and a bag of magic tricks all for one low price.

If wine’s your thing, they’ll greet you with complimentary glasses of sparkling wine upon arrival at Sonoma Wine Garden before a Celebrate Love dinner for two. And whether it’s a romantic evening for two or girls’ night out, Pourtal Wine Tasting Bar is offering 50 percent off their wine tastings the whole evening on February 14.

But if you're looking for different ways to share the tender care, Stephen Wittels can set you up with a romantic Electric Bicycle Adventure from his Pedal or Not boutique on 7th Street down to the Venice canals and back.

The guided tours are rated number one by TripAdvisor, and the 15-mph, three-hour journey shows you some of the city’s best views without breaking into a sweat.

Valentine’s Day trips offer goodie bags of chocolates and 25 percent off the cost of memorial photos, if you mention the Valentine’s Day offer.

“It’s something special for someone special,” Wittels promises.

If you want to sizzle in a dance of love, The Dance Doctor John Cassese is offering a special lovers’ price for a private lesson in tango, salsa, swing, or even fox trot. He’ll have you dancing with the stars in no time. Come Valentine’s evening for a group lesson of ballroom dancing and stay for a dancers’ social.

“Dancing is such an expression of love,” Cassese said. “To me, the couple that dances together, stays together.”

But if you really want to get serious about love, Hanna Hartnell is offering a free veil or a 10 percent discount on any of her bridal gowns ordered February 14 through 18.

“But please call for an appointment,” Hartnell said. “I personally fit all my brides.”

Hartnell, whose gowns have been worn to the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards, keeps samples of all her designs, in all sizes, at her shop, but she admitted they don’t look like much on a hangar.

“It takes bodies to give my gowns life,” she said. “My gowns are for real women who want to look elegant, not just a lampshade.”
