August 9, 2011 – When it was first built in the 1920's, the Marion Davies Estate was an ideal place to view the Pacific sunset while lounging by the pool and listening to the latest band. It still is.

Adults are invited to recreate the glamorous, fun-filled lifestyle of the Gold Coast at the Annenberg Beach House with music by the Martini Kings and a menu of poolside treats from Back on the Beach Thursday night next week, August 18.

The Julia Morgan-designed pool will be heated, just right for a leisurely dip, followed by complimentary shaved ice.

“Sophisticated, modern with a hint of retro-style thrown into the mix,” are some of the words used to describe the lounge music of the Martini Kings, named the number one event band in Los Angeles by MyFoxLA.com.

They've wowed audiences at the Academy Awards and guests of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and former First Lady Laura Bush, as well as Kanye West and Carole King with their selection of retro classics, jazz standards and bossa novas.

Sandwiches, salads, and small plates will be available to order from Back on the Beach, the Beach House' neighboring landmark restaurant.

The adult swim night and is open to guests eighteen and older, $15 per person.

It will be held Thursday, August 18 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Event parking is $5. Space is limited. Purchase tickets in advance by calling Guest Services at 310-458-4904.

The Annenberg Community Beach House is located on the beach at 415 Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, California. It is north of the Santa Monica Pier and south of Will Rogers State Beach. The Pacific Coast Bike Trail winds along the western edge of the facility.
