| Libraries to Host Bicycle Festival | ||

By Lookout Staff May 20, 2010 --Multiple libraries in Santa Monica will take part this Saturday in iCycle, a festival of bicycles. Admission to the all the events at the various locations is free. The Main Library at 601 Santa Monica Blvd. will host a number of activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a workshop on bicycle safety, repairs and maintenance. Additionally, visitors can observe BMX flatland, fixed-gear and mountain bike demonstrations. Other features include children’s crafts, a bike rodeo and a parade. A free bicycle valet will be offered and there will be an opportunity for Santa Monica residents to register their two-wheelers. |
At the Fairview Branch, located at 2101 Ocean Park Blvd., there will be bicycle maintenance and safety workshop. Refreshments and door prizes will be available and there will be an opportunity for bicycle registration. Those festivities will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Montana Branch, located at 1704 Montana Ave., will offer bicycle decorating and a chance for registration from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, go to www.smpl.org/icycle. |
