March 1, 2010 -- More than six miles of streets across Santa Monica will be repaved using funds from the federal government’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

City officials believe the $787 billion Recovery package -- which was passed by Congress to help jump-start the economy will create or save some 20 jobs.

The paving projects include pavement resurfacing, re-striping, and sidewalk, curb, and gutter repairs. The work should be completed in June.

Streets scheduled for improvements include the following:

• Santa Monica Boulevard from Cloverfield Boulevard to Centinela Avenue;
• San Vicente Boulevard from Ocean Avenue to 7th Street;
• 26th Street from Carlyle Avenue to Montana Avenue;
• Montana Avenue from 17th Street to 26th Street;

• Broadway Avenue from 12th Street to 16th Street, from 20th Street to 21st Street, and from Cloverfield Boulevard to 26th Street;
• Lincoln Boulevard from Colorado Avenue to the I-10 overpass;
• Colorado Avenue from 20th Street to 26th Street;
• Olympic Boulevard from Palm Court to Lincoln Boulevard;
• Ocean Avenue from Pico Boulevard to Hollister Street;
• Ocean Park Boulevard from Lincoln Boulevard to 25th Street;
• Barnard Way from Ocean Park Boulevard to Neilson Way;
• Highland Avenue from Pier Avenue to the south City limits, and
• Marine Street from Highland Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard.
