Applications Sought for Commission on the Status of Women

June 24, 2010 -- The City is looking for somebody to fill a vacancy on the Commission on the Status of Women. The person must be a Santa Monica resident and “be committed to improving the status of women through advocacy, education and related efforts.”

The nine-member commission, which was created in 1981, meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. It makes recommendations to the City Council and City staff on programs and policies affecting women and girls. Recently, the commission prepared a strategic plan outlining priorities commissioners should pursue over the next five years.

Application forms and information are available at City Hall, located at 1685 Main St. One can also apply at www.smgov.net or request an application by calling 310-458-8211. Applications must be received in the City Clerk’s Office by July 12 at 12 p.m.
