|
By Jonathan Friedman July 19, 2010 -- Doug Roscoe of Macerich and Chris Mobley of Community Corporation of Santa Monica joined the Bayside District Board last month after they were elected by Downtown property owners June 10. Five other board members will return, two re-elected by property owners and three appointed by the City Council on June 22. The seven members will each serve four years on the 13-member board, which oversees a $5 million budget to maintain public spaces, fund the “ambassador program” and market the area. The board also makes policy recommendations to the City Council. Following are the seven members elected last month: NEW MEMBERS Doug Roscoe “Participating and communicating as a Bayside Board member helps to align our mutual business interests and ensures that we work together cooperatively to preserve and push forward Santa Monica as such a great place to shop, work, dine, live and play,” Roscoe said. Roscoe’s career began in the mid-1970s with the Hahn Co., where he worked his way up to general manager of Clackamas Town Center in Portland. He returned to Southern California in the early 1980s to take a job as vice president of property management for the Mac Donald Group, a privately held company owning a portfolio of four regional malls and six community centers. Roscoe was hired by Macerich in July 2008 to run Santa Monica Place. Roscoe and his wife Mary reside in Rancho Palos Verdes. They have two daughters living in Seattle and San Francisco. He is a swimming enthusiast. Chris Mobley “My goals as a Bayside Board member would be to represent the interests of a large Santa Monica tenant base -- approximately 1,500 Downtown Santa Monica households -- and address the needs and potential contributions of nonprofits,” Mobley said. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in management information systems, Mobley joined a software development firm, moving to Venice to launch a West Coast division. He later managed information systems and technology for Casden Properties in Beverly Hills, before taking landing a job at LINE6 in Culver City. He also has volunteered with a variety of nonprofit groups, including Habitat for Humanity, Human Rights Campaign and Project Angel Food. “Living in California has fed my interest and enhanced my skill as a community organizer, volunteer and supporter of the arts,” Mobley said. “And I am always looking for new ways to become creatively and directly involved in the betterment of the community.” RE-ELECTED BY PROPERTY OWNERS Barbara Tenzer, Tenzer Commercial Allan Golad, Douglas Emmet RE-APPOINTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Rob Rader Barbara Bryan Johannes Van Tilburg |
