Police Seek Suspects in Sunday Shooting

October 15, 2009 -- Police are looking for suspects who fired BBs at a crowd protesting animal cruelty in front of a Santa Monica pet shop Sunday.

Two victims were struck outside the Aquarium & Pet Center at 826 Wilshire Boulevard at 2:41 p.m., police said.

The victims were struck in the lower leg area, said Sgt. Jay Trisler, a Police Department spokesman.

The victims were part of a large crowd gathered outside the store to protest the alleged sale of purebred puppies bred in inhumane conditions.

The incident is regarded as an assault with a deadly weapon.
