September 4 – There was a Christmas tree and presents
and the pianist played carols as civic leaders took to the runway
Tuesday for the 30th annual Christmas in September fashion show
and luncheon sponsored by the Santa Monica Salvation Army Women’s
Auxiliary.
Some one hundred supporters of the cause filled the ballroom at
the Fairmont Miramar Hotel to raise money for the charity and honor
Louise Gabriel, president of the Santa Monica Historical Society,
who has helped organize the event for the past three decades.

of Readers Jewelers not only co-chaired the event, she took to the
runway, as her husband Eddie served as MC, describing the outfits
and filling in some background on the models.
