January 30 -- Less than four months after a near fatal
head-on collision along Ocean Park Boulevard, a second head-on
wreck ended with a SUV parked on top of a sedan Monday night.
No one was injured in the three-car accident, which occurred around
7:20 p.m. between 16th and 14th Streets, almost the same spot
as the September crash on the heavily traveled artery in the Southern
part of the City. (see

Still it was a close call, said the shaken Sedan driver, who
declined to give his name.
"Luckily my airbags went off," he said. "It was
a rental car, and I was on my way to work in Culver City.
“I used Ocean Park to avoid traffic on the freeway. This
is last time I'll do that."
According to an interviews given to police by unnamed witnesses
at the scene, a teenage girl driving a black Land Rover clipped
the back of another Sport Utility Vehicle after it reportedly
slowed down while traveling westbound.
Once the Land Rover hit the vehicle, it veered left into oncoming
traffic, coming to rest on the sedan.
The stretch of road, near several schools, is currently undergoing
a redesign by City traffic officials.
Transportation Manager Lucy Dyke reported last October that speed
along Ocean Park Boulevard has played a factor in several accidents,
although traffic seems to have slowed over the last several years.
