August 3 -- Spend
a lazy late afternoon relaxing
in the sun or lounging in the
cool shade while taking in the
joyful rhythms of Brazil, Brasil
as Jazz on the Lawn returns
to Santa Monica Sunday.
Sponsored by the City’s
Cultural Affairs Division, this
year’s inaugural concert
features dynamic Brazilian singers
Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos
backed by a host of talented
musicians who make use of unique
and authentic percussive instruments
to deliver the passion, enthusiasm
and excitement of popular Brazilian
music.
The Los Angeles Times wrote,
"Gazzola and Santos have
developed a musical formula
based on a slick, well-crafted
display of movement and music.
Their vocal togetherness as
brightly colored as their outfits."
While L.A.Jazz Scene said,
"The intensity of Santo's
voice and the cool sensuality
of Gazzola's, blend and complement
each other with delightful chemistry
making Brasil Brazil's distinctive
sound an irresistible one."
Sunday’s concert, which
begins at 5 p.m. on the City
Hall lawn, is the first of four

of the Los Angeles County Arts
Commission’s Free Concerts

family and a picnic dinner to
this series of free outdoor concerts
