November 13 -- A 25-year old man is in critical condition
at a local hospital after being shot in broad daylight in the
gang-prone Pico Neighborhood Sunday.
The shooting took place around 2 p.m. at the intersection of
11th Street and Michigan Avenue, police said.
While a search for witnesses proved fruitless, police received
reports of a victim at a local hospital who was shot in the abdomen
and forearm.
While standing on the 1800 block of 11th Street, the victim and
a friend heard the shots that struck the 25-year-old, police said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital before authorities arrived.
Witnesses reported seeing a "brown vehicle" leaving
the area shortly after the shooting, police said.
It is unknown at this time whether police believe the incident
is gang related.
