| Ex-Con Gunned Down on Year’s First Homicide By Lookout Staff March 9 -- A Santa Monica man became the year’s first homicide victim when he was gunned down in front of an apartment door near Lincoln Boulevard shortly after midnight Sunday, police said. Gabriel Edward Becerrada, 38, had been shot multiple times when police found his body at the apartment building on the 800 block of Ashland Avenue at 1: 20 a.m., police said. Becerrada was recently released from State Prison and was on parole, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman. After an extensive investigation, police arrested three suspects, including Becerrada's girlfriend, Sandra Alfaro, 34; her17-year-old son and his friend Luke Yeron, 19, Fabrega said. The three suspects -- who are all Santa Monica residents -- have been booked for murder. Bail for the two adult suspects has been set at $1 million. “Police went out (Monday evening) to serve search warrants to check some locations,” Fabrega said. Police responded to the scene after reports of a woman screaming and shots fired, police said. Anyone having additional information should call the Robbery-Homicide
