Cross Country Spending Spree Ends at Local Hotel By Lookout Staff March 9 -- Police chased down a Beverly Hills man who was traveling nationwide using a fraudulent credit card Friday morning after he tried to check into a local hotel, police said. Samuel Jackson, 23 -- who apparently used the card to pay for his hotel rooms, car rentals and other expenses -- called the hotel on the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue to book a room, police said. Alerted by hotel staff, Santa Monica detectives were at the hotel when the suspect arrived at around 11 a.m., said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman. “The suspect arrived at the hotel and for unknown reasons ran out” Fabrega said. The detectives saw the suspect running and gave chase, Fabrega said. Shortly after a brief foot chase, the officers established a perimeter and arrested the suspect. Jackson was taken to the Santa Monica Jail and booked for attempted grand theft, burglary, probation violations, and several outstanding warrants. No bail was set. Anyone with any information regarding this incident should call the Santa Monica Police Department at 458.8491. |
