Woman Stabbed on Bus

By Lookout Staff

March 4 -- A woman about to exit the Big Blue Bus on Pico Boulevard near the city’s border was stabbed in the arm by another passenger after an argument Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The suspect -- identified as Mary Louise McClure, 61 -- and the victim, who refused to be taken to the hospital, are both Santa Monica residents.

McClure was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident took place shortly before 3 p.m. after an argument between the two women, who were seated next to each other on the bus, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman.

“The victim apparently was going to exit the bus,” Fabrega said. “As she stood up, the suspect also stood up, produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the right forearm.”

The driver immediately notified police, who responded to the scene, Fabrega said.

Paramedics, who also were called to the scene, treated the victim.

There was “no indication the women knew each other,” Fabrega said.

Bail for McClure was set at $30,000.
