Man Stabbed During Robbery

By Lookout Staff

Oct. 29 -- The victim of an armed robbery Wednesday morning was listed in critical condition after the suspect stabbed him in the upper body, police said.

The suspect in the stabbing -- which took place at 8:30 a.m. at 4th Street and Arizona Avenue -- is identified as Kevin Carriker, a 33-year-old Korean from Cerritos who was a parolee at large from Nevada, police said.

Santa Monica Fire Paramedics responded and provided medical assistance to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital and his condition is listed as serious, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the Police Department spokesman.

Officers stopped a subject matching the description of the outstanding suspect in the 300 block of Santa Monica Boulevard and the victim positively identified the suspect during a field show-up, Fabrega said.

The suspect was arrested and booked at the Santa Monica Jail and charged with attempt murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, parole violation, and additional related charges, Fabrega said.

No bail was set due to the parole violation.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim worked together in the past.

Anyone with additional information should call the Robbery/Homicide Unit of the Santa Monica Police Department at 310.458.8451.
