Suspect Arrested in Lincoln Boulevard Fire By Lookout Staff July 15 -- A Marina del Rey man was arrested and charged with arson Tuesday in connection with a fire on the 2300 block of Lincoln Boulevard Sunday. Anthony Wayne Smith, 36, was arrested by Santa Monica Police Investigators after a preliminary investigation indicated the fire was suspicious in origin. Upon further investigation, the Santa Monica Arson Task Force (which is made up of Police and Fire personnel) determined the fire was incendiary and began a criminal investigation. The Los Angeles City Fire Department assisted and provided their accelerant detection K-9, “Buster”, and other resources during this investigation. Smith’s bail has been set at $1 million. He will be arraigned on July 16, 2003, at the Airport Branch of the Los Angeles County Courthouse. The case has been filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. |
