Robbery Suspect Nabbed After Pursuit

By Lookout Staff

August 26 -- A robbery suspect was arrested Monday after his truck crashed into a parked vehicle in the Pico Neighborhood during a police pursuit.

The suspect -- who identified himself as Yuseff LaTeef Graves, a 20-year-old resident of Los Angeles -- was followed by a police vehicle at around 1:30 a.m. after an officer saw suspicious activity at the Mobil Gas Station on the corner of Cloverfield Boulevard and Michigan Avenue, police said.

The officer followed a vehicle that left the gas station parking lot and attempted to make a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Cloverfield, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman.

The suspect's vehicle pulled to the curb, then quickly accelerated southbound on Cloverfield, police said. The getaway truck then headed eastbound on Virginia Ave and northbound on High Place where it crashed into a parked vehicle.

The occupants fled on foot, Fabrega said. Graves was arrested after he was discovered hiding in an apartment laundry room.

Shortly after the arrest, an employee at the Mobil Gas Station contacted police and told them he had been robbed by armed suspects in a white truck. Police matched the truck to the getaway vehicle.

Graves was taken to the Santa Monica Jail and booked for armed robbery. The suspect's bail has been set at $66,000.
