Man Shot in Foot During Walk

Nov. 20 -- A Bellflower man is recovering after being shot in the foot Saturday night while walking on the beach bicycle path, police said.

The 29-year-old victim told police that as he walked on the path near the 1200 block of the beach shortly after 10 p.m. he saw three individuals arguing. The victim was approached by one of the individuals.

After the two engaged in a brief conversation, the suspect fired several shots at the man from a semi-automatic gun, striking him the left foot, SMPD spokesman Lt. Frank Fabrega said.

The suspect and his two companions then ran northbound on the bike path. The victim was taken to a local hospital and listed in good condition.
