Buried Heads
March 8, 2004
Dear Editor,
Mayor Richard Bloom says the Transit Mall is a success??? (“Transit
Mall Gets Mixed Reviews,” March 8, 2004) This is another example
of our City Council having their heads buried deep in the sand --
or worse -- elsewhere on their anatomy.
The good Mayor has obviously not tried to navigate from North of
Wilshire to the freeway on Fourth Street or been blocked at an intersection
and having to wait three lights trying to cross Broadway or Colorado
on 5th, 6th, or 7th streets. The truth is, the Transit Mall, for
all of its positives such as wider sidewalks and a more pleasant
strolling experience, is a horrible failure!
I can't wait to vote in the upcoming election so I can exercise
my personal displeasure with those currently running our city. Mayor
Bloom's comments only hasten my desire to vote for a candidate that
more represents the views of a majority of our citizens who do not
see big business, clearing out the homeless or realizing there is
enough affordable housing, as negatives.
