Threats Mark Third Week of April

Compiled by Teresa Rochester

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly threatened a pedestrian after striking him with his truck at the intersection of 3rd Court and Broadway on Wednesday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m.

The pedestrian, a 28-year-old Santa Monica man, was crossing the alley when he was struck by an older small white "beaten-up" pick-up truck traveling southbound on 3rd Court, police department spokesman Lt. P.J. Guido said. The man was not uninjured

The truck's driver -- a 30-year-old white man, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 220 pounds -- got out of his vehicle and threatened to kill the victim. The driver then jumped back into his truck and fled.

The driver was wearing a blue plaid shirt and white T-shirt at the time of the incident.

A 40-year-old man allegedly sent an anonymous email to a City Council member on Thursday, April 19 at 8:43 p.m. threatening a Big Blue Bus driver, police said.

The man, who has been identified but not arrested, allegedly had an encounter with the bus driver at 12:26 Thursday morning, Lt. P.J. Guido said. Hours later the suspect sent the email to the unidentified council member, who forwarded the message to City Manager Susan McCarthy.

McCarthy forwarded the email to Police Chief James T. Butts, Jr. "We are following-up," Guido said.
